The vision of Safe Passage,
a division of Women Crowned In Glory
began ten years ago from the giving spirit of Trish Steele.
A woman of integrity and compassion, Mrs. Steele allied her
friends and supporters together to create a Non-Profit 501(C)3
Corporation to shelter, educate, equip and direct women and
their children to safety and survival of domestic violence.
Since 1992, more than 1000 women and their
children have come to Safe Passage looking for shelter and support. Emergency shelter had been
provided through the home of Mr. & Mrs. Jim Steele for five years. During 2001-2003 the Safe
Passage Home oversaw the first transitional home in Sherman Oaks. The City of Los Angeles
awarded Mrs. Steele with a "Certificate of Appreciation" by Council Member Wendy Greuel
for her outstanding citizenship and activities enhancing community betterment. The women and children of the families
in the home made great personal strides and re-established themselves into their own homes, new jobs, and new life
within 3 months of services.
Under the leadership of our CEO Trish Steele and the Board of Directors, we have worked diligently to establish a "Retreat Home" in the Los Angeles area. Trish Steele,
author, model, beauty consultant and spokeswoman, has brought great awareness to the issue
of domestic violence. She is a great example of how an abused woman can be restored and
start a new life of success.
Our goal is to secure a Home and a Mobile Unit so we may service 40 to 60 abused women a year,
equipping them with a new look, job, and new residences of their own.
"Stepping Stones To A New Life" -- helping women and their children one step at a time to a new life.
